What’s a kolache?

LONG, LONG AGO...

Kolaches are fresh, delectable filled pastries that originated in the Czech Republic. In the late 1800s, Czech immigrants came to Texas with sweet dreams of American success and brought with them these tasty baked goods.

A KOLACHE BY ANY OTHER NAME…

Czechs consider kolache to refer to sweet pastry pockets, filled with fruit or cream cheese, and call the savory versions filled with sausage and cheese, kolbasnek. Because Texans call both the sweet and the savory Kolache, we at Koala call our goodies “Texas Kolaches” to distinguish them from the original. But whatever you call them, they are all delicious!
